This film is an entertaining and heartfelt comedy centered around a woman named Maddie, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence.
Maddie is facing financial difficulties and is on the verge of losing her home. One day, she stumbles upon an unusual job opportunity from affluent parents. They are seeking someone to "date" their introverted son Percy before he heads off to college, in order to help him build confidence and gain life experience. Maddie consents to take on the role because she is in dire need of money (and they promise her a vehicle). However, events do not unfold as anticipated. Percy, played by Andrew Barth Feldman, is extremely shy, naive, and socially awkward. Rather than experiencing a seamless romance, their time together turns into a series of humorous, bizarre, and at times poignant moments. Gradually, they begin to comprehend one another. Percy grows in confidence, while Maddie starts to reflect on her own life choices and errors. Eventually, Percy discovers that Maddie was employed by his parents, leading him to feel hurt and betrayed. This revelation sparks a significant emotional confrontation between them. Ultimately, they find it in their hearts to forgive one another and evolve as individuals. Percy is prepared for college, and Maddie resolves to advance in her life.
