Unaad is a Marathi musical drama that marks a transition into adulthood, helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Set along the beautiful Konkan coastline, the narrative centers on three young individuals from the Koli fishing community who face challenges related to poverty, self-discovery, companionship, love, and the challenges of growing up.
The plot primarily focuses on Shubham, Bandya, and Jamil — lighthearted youths whose lives take a turn when a personal video inadvertently gains widespread attention. What starts as innocent fun evolves into a profound exploration of accountability, societal scrutiny, aspirations, and the difficult circumstances experienced by underprivileged coastal populations. The movie fuses authentic details about life with music and local traditions, creating a genuine ambiance reflective of the Konkan region.
Featuring Ashutosh Gaikwad, Abhishek Bharate, Chinmay Jadhav, Hemal Ingle, and Devika Daftardar, the film received accolades for its cinematography, realistic acting, musical elements, and depiction of rural youth. While some critics noted that the pacing of the screenplay felt sluggish, others highlighted its emotional sincerity and genuine storytelling.
